Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These kinds of products being offered, normally online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their safety.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
